CSE Scomagg Wins Order for Power Station Upgrade
CSE Scomagg has been awarded a contract in excess of £3
million for the provision of a fully integrated Automatic Boiler
Control System for Unit 4 at Scottish Power's Longannet Power Station.
Longannet Power Station is a 2400MW coal fired station sited at
Kincardine in Scotland. The project is to replace a number of existing
legacy systems and the existing pre-dominantly hardwired control
desk on the unit.
The solution is based upon the following core elements:-
- Siemens APACS based control systems utilising a mix of APACS
and S7-ET200 I/O.
- Siemens QUADLOG safety systems.
- iFix based Soft Desk.
- Hardwired based Emergency Standby Shutdown Desk.
The contract reaffirms CSE Scomagg's position as a key supplier
to Scottish Power and indeed to the Power Industry in general.
CSE Scomagg, member of the CSE Servelec Group of companies, provide
a wide range of technology driven process control and management
consultancy systems and support services for many blue chip clients

Next Generation Nuclear Fuel Route
Diagnostic and Monitoring Solutions
British Energy has awarded a contract to CSE Scomagg to
replace diagnostic and monitoring systems that are used to continuously
monitor the performance of safety-critical operations across 4 reactors.
The current VAX-based systems, which were originally supplied by
CSE Scomagg in the early 90’s, have proved to be extremely beneficial
to Operations and Maintenance personnel, in increasing the visibility
of fuel route processes and in reducing equipment down-time.
The new systems replicate the original functionality using a multi-server,
modular architecture to handle in excess of 20,000 real time data
points. These solutions are based on open industry standards that
utilise modern PC-based COTS applications to avoid vendor lock-in
and ensure ease of maintenance for the projected operational life
of the stations.
